Rick Dean in this shot and me in the next - are grinning with relief after surviving being fired at by a sniper on the ground. The pilot wheeled the bird around and told the gunners go after the sniper. They immediately leaned out the doors and sprayed the jungle.

The real relief was that the door gunners hadn't shot off our Huey's tail rotor. You can see the M-60 hanging by a bungee cord. I suspect Rick and I had just as soon we had kept on going.
