Sample Chapters in Adobe, Microsoft and PDA Formats

If you do not already have the Adobe or Microsoft eBook readers for your PDA or desktop computer, first download a free reader you want to try from the appropriate source. The buttons below will take you directly to several reader vendors for their latest reader.  Many books are available from large and small book sellers for each of these formats, and you certainly are not constrained to just one format.

Don't be confused by the choices - try a free reader and sample chapter to decide which format you like best - then order your ebook in the format you prefer from the many eBook retailers of choice - mine happens to also be my publisher, Hard Shell Word Factory, followed closely by my favorite retailers, Fictionwise.com and eReader.com (the old Peanut Press). Many retailers offer each book in any of the formats listed, so it is your choice as to which one you like best - or works best on your particular choice of reader.

Download Microsoft ReaderThe Microsoft Reader has a great "book-look" for the PC and Pocket PC. Like the Adobe eBook Reader, the Microsoft Reader can adjust fonts sizes, annotate text and place bookmarks. Everyone has their drawbacks - the Microsoft Reader's is in the .Net protection scheme. Change computers and you are out of luck if the file was encrypted.

The Acrobat Reader will read all PDF files on practically any computer, including Macintosh systems. Also offers an Adobe reader to read Acrobat files on Palm OS systems. Troublesome on some PDA's.

Palm device
Click HERE to go to the Palm Media pages and links to their PDB reader for the Palm Organizer, Handspring Visor, and Pocket PC, and also your PC or Macintosh. Bookmarks and an annotation feature are among the standard features. Palm offers their Reader for English and several other languages.
