Dedicated to
All the American Heroes
of
September 11, 2001

The ensuing war drove the events that subsequently positioned America as the world's leader in human rights and provided the basis for an every-improving world standard of living through technology, plus the economic stability to enjoy the new benefits. America led the world from world war toward a society of individual freedom and institutional liberty, supported by our friends and neighbors north and south and across the oceans.

There are always individuals who are greedy and jealous of success, those who envy America’s bountiful material life and our unfettered ability to select and follow our spiritual path. It is sad that terrorists have chosen to attack the everyday workers of our nation, sacrificing innocent travelers - men, women and children - in a doomed quest to stifle progress toward worldwide freedom and liberty. Our new global technology allowed Americans and the entire world to view directly the horrible and cowardly acts of terrorism. The targets were the men and women who enable the economic growth enjoyed by the entire world and who protect the world from those genocidal maniacs that would disrupt of our way of life.

Again the heroes stepped forward, as they did so many years ago.

The many men and women in the midst of tragedy who helped others, the many who rushed from safety to help, only to fall victim themselves, those who fought back against the terrorists in the air, these are our heroes of the first battles. We will never know the details, extent, or, in many instances, even the basic facts of most of these acts. Many suffered silently, never having the opportunity to achieve their goals in life, to raise their children, to honor their parents. Their sacrifices will not be ignored or forgotten.

Our heroes, like all Americans, came from every race, religion, creed and economic background. We will remember each and every one, in our hearts and in our minds.

The material destruction will cause economic hardship. The loss of life will cause great anguish. This day of tragedy and terror will pass, but will not be forgotten.

There are more battles to come, a war to be won.

Woe be upon those who stand against Freedom and Liberty, for they shall suffer the wrath of the just.

Postscripts.

September 21, 2001: President Bush's speech on September 20, 2001 reminded us that many of our friends from eighty other nations and from many different races and religions were also victims and heroes, joined forever together with the thousands of Americans who lost their lives in this terrible tragedy. Innocents continue to die in the Middle Eastern caldron.

September 9, 2003: Our President's latest speech on September 7, 2003, reaffirmed our Nation's determination to see this task through. Since the original article was written in 2001, many have scoffed. I believe all free people will sacrifice and support the effort to rid the world of terror and oppression.
